No-bake chocolate date bites—perfect for energy and recovery

“For a sweet pick-me-up any time you need it!” -SS

INGREDIENTS

10 medjool dates

⅓ cup natural peanut butter (or any nut or seed butter)

1 tbsp. protein powder

1 tsp. vanilla paste

½ cup chocolate chips (preferably dark chocolate)

1 tsp. coconut oil OR 2 tbsp. cacoa butter

3 tbsp. chopped peanuts (or any nuts or seeds)

INSTRUCTIONS

Servings: 10

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Line a baking sheet or plate with parchment paper. Gently open up each date to remove the pit, but don’t rip it in half; you want it to still hold together somewhat. Mix together the peanut butter, protein powder, and vanilla paste. Stuff about half a tablespoon of the peanut butter mixture into each date and lay them flat on the lined baking sheet.

Combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil (or cacao butter) in a small microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring in between to prevent  burning, until fully melted.

Drop a stuffed date into the melted chocolate and use a fork to roll it around, making sure it’s well coated in chocolate. Place the chocolate-covered date back on the parchment paper and sprinkle with some chopped peanuts. Repeat with all the remaining dates.

Place the baking sheet or plate in the freezer until the chocolate has set, about 15-30 minutes (if you can wait that long!). Serve straight from the freezer or allow to thaw for a few minutes.

Variation: Stuff the date with the peanut butter mixture and a square of dark chocolate instead of coating.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer to prevent melting, for up to 2 weeks.

Menopause Changes Your Gut—Here’s Why It Matters
Most conversations about menopause focus on hormones. But there’s another system quietly shifting at the same time: your gut microbiome. The trillions of bacteria living in your gut influence everything from metabolism to immune function to brain health. And during perimenopause and menopause, this system changes in ways that can cause an impact across your entire body. Let’s break down what ...
How Plants and Protein Can Help You Through Menopause
Most active women underestimate their daily protein needs—and the consequences become more pronounced in perimenopause and menopause. The current RDA for protein was established to prevent deficiency in sedentary people, not to help active women optimize their training and recovery—or to thrive through perimenopause and beyond.  If you’re exercising with intent (whether that’s lifting, runnin...
Women Live Longer, So Why Aren’t We Aging Better?
Women live longer than men. On paper, we “win” longevity. But here’s the uncomfortable truth: many women are living longer, but those years are impacted by cognitive decline, cardiovascular disease, frailty, and loss of independence, especially after menopause. The real question becomes less about lifespan (the number of years we live) and more about healthspan, the number of years we’re stro...
