On the Road with a Reason

by Dr. Stacy Sims
May 30, 2025

At the time of writing this, I’ve been on the road in the U.S. for three weeks with a packed schedule of keynote speeches, video shoots, meet-ups, and, of course, plenty of workouts (that part is always non-negotiable!). While it’s always hard being away from my family for this long, this is also the time where I get to see and feel the impact of female science and research in action. It has always been my goal to bring like-minded women together and empower them with the knowledge to be their best selves—and seeing that in real life never fails to bring a smile to my face and feed my soul.

I kicked off the trip with some time in Tahoe with the Momentous team, shooting content for a women’s specific product line they’re due to launch soon. (And if you haven’t already, check out their Fuel Your Purpose Strava Challenge here).

After that, it was on to Stanford University’s Women’s Retreat at Fallen Leaf Lake where I gave a keynote speech, “Redefining Health for Women,” highlighting our gendered society and how we have been looking at women’s health and research through a male lens—and how to change this viewpoint!

From there, it was SoCal time—heading to San Diego to meet up with some of my team. I also had the good fortune to work out at Invictus (for all you CrossFit athletes!) after hours, having great chats and insights from the crew there.

I’m now up in the Bay Area for a fireside chat at Google HQ to launch their new Women’s Health initiative, a major focus for a part of their workforce that is growing rapidly. I love that men were in the room too; it’s so important to have all involved in conversations about women's health.

Recipes Now Live!

I’m often asked for my go-to recipes, particularly for pre- and post-workout, so I’m excited to share that we now have two on my website—the always-popular Salty Balls and High-Protein Pancakes, with plenty more to follow. These are recipes that I created many years ago and they’ve become trusted favorites for me and my family. They’re tasty, nutritious, and highly popular with kids too!

Fueling Early Morning Workouts

I get it—if you want to get a workout in before the work/school day starts, sometimes (or oftentimes!) it means a 5 a.m. workout. If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know I emphasize the importance of not doing these workouts fasted (more on that soon!), but fueling these early workouts isn’t always easy. For those who like protein coffee then great, that’s always a solid option, but I know that’s not popular with everyone. If that’s you, then check out this reel with me and Loretta where we discuss a few alternatives (oatmeal slurry, anyone?!)

A large proportion of the questions I’ve been receiving lately are focused around protein and creatine supplements, so I wanted to give you a quick reminder that I have a variety of Microlearning courses available on my website that are designed to educate and empower you. Topics include Protein, Creatine, Adaptogens, and Pregnancy & Exercise. Each course takes about three hours to complete, giving you the latest science in a digestible format. And the best news? Why Active Women Need Creatine
There are very few supplements I recommend across the board. Creatine is one of them. For decades, creatine has been misunderstood as something only bodybuilders or elite male athletes use. That misconception has kept many women from one of the most well-researched, effective, and female-relevant supplements available. Creatine supports strength, power, muscle mass, brain health, bone integ...
Strength vs Muscle Size: What Women Need to Know
One of the questions I’m often asked is: How connected are building muscle and building strength? The short answer: they’re related, but not the same. You can increase strength without dramatically increasing muscle, and you can increase muscle without seeing proportional gains in strength. Research shows that early strength gains are largely driven by neural adaptations rather than muscle gr...
Talking Menopause with Mel Robbins
My latest conversation with Mel Robbins drops today, and it touches on many of the questions I’ve been thinking about as we head into 2026: how women can support metabolism, build muscle, and work with their hormones as they train, recover, and age in a landscape that’s often noisy, trend-driven, and not built with female physiology in mind. 🎧 Listen to the new episode of The Mel Robbins Podc...
